Former DG of corporate affairs, son commit suicide

He was out on temporary bail in a corruption case under investigation by the CBI.

Two months ago, on July 19, Bansal’s wife, Satyabala, 57, and his daughter Neha, 27, too committed suicide at their flat following interrogation by the CBI.

According to the police, the incident came to light on Tuesday morning at around 8:45 am, when their domestic help Rachna went over to the Bansal household and saw BK Bansal hanging from the ceiling fan in his room.

Investigators said that they found two photocopies of a five-page handwritten suicide note signed individually by BK Bansal and Yogesh where they have levelled allegations that they were being harassed by CBI officers regarding the graft case filed against BK Bansal.

DCP (East) Rishi Pal said that the police have initiated a probe under Inquest Proceedings and sent the suicide note to the CBI.

In the preliminary investigation, it appears that the father-son might have committed suicide late on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday, said police.

Police took the bodies to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital where autopsy is to be conducted.

Neighbours said that after Bansal’s wife and daughter ended their lives, Bansal became reclusive but his son interacted with the neighbours. SR Batra, secretary of the Neelkanth Apartments residential association, said, “On Monday, some CBI officials had come to their (BK Bansal) flat.”

Meanwhile, after the death of BK Bansal and his son, the CBI issued a statement: “We are deeply saddened to know the unfortunate demise of BK Bansal and his son today (Tuesday). The matter is being looked into by the local police.”
