Focus on our achievements in poll campaign: Mamata to workers

The first such meeting to be attended by Banerjee will be at Pailan near Joka in South 24 Parganas on Tuesday. After that, Banerjee is expected to travel to North Bengal. ‘Mamata is asking all Trinamool workers to take  a positive approach while campaigning. Wherever Banerjee goes to campaign, she will talk about development and progress made by her Government without thrusting extra taxes on the people’, said senior Trinamool MLA Sovondeb Chattopadhyay.

Banerjee has announced candidates from her party in all 42 Lok Sabha seats in the state. However, one problem facing the party this time around is the lack of campaign time. Also, the use of microphones is restricted during the ongoing school and college exams. ‘Mamata Banerjee is the party’s face during the elections. It is unlikely that Banerjee will attend smaller worker meetings this time. She will also travel to other states where the Trinamool Congress has fielded candidates.

However, other Trinamool leaders will distribute responsibilities like appointing polling agents, scrutiny work and so on among party workers. Though candidates will stick to their respective constituencies, Trinamool’s Rajya Sabha MPs are expected to travel all over the state to canvass for votes’, an AITC MP told Millennium Post.

The party is likely to release its election manifesto in a  few days time. But what will candidates say against the CPIM during the campaign? ‘The CPIM has only one election plank, the law and order
situation. Our candidates will talk about the party’s achievements since 2011 and how the CPIM wasted over 30 years of rule in the state by doing nothing for the people’, said Chattopadhyay.
