Five-year-old girl sexually assaulted by neighbour
A five-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by her neighbour near her house at Haiderpur area in North-west Delhi’s Shalimar Bagh area on Sunday evening. According to the senior police officials of the, they have registered a case under Section 376 of the IPC and POCSO Act and investigation is on to trace the accused youth, who is still absconding.
A senior police official said that the incident took place at around 6 pm on Sunday when the five-year-old girl, a nursery class student was reportedly playing outside her house while her mother was making preparations for dinner. The youth, a neighbour, allegedly approached the girl and offered her chocolates and Pepsi and took her to an isolated forested area near her house where he sexually assaulted her.
Eyewitnesses told police that once the parents of the minor girl could not find her, they raised an alarm and started frantically searching for her. One of the locals while searching for the minor child found the girl at an isolated spot near the girl’s house. She was bleeding profusely from her private parts.
On spotting the girl, the girl’s family immediately rushed her to Babu Jag Jivan Ram hospital where the doctors confirmed sexual assault on the minor child. Police was also informed about the incident. “We have registered a case under relevant sections of the IPC and the POCSO Act at the Shalimar Bagh police station. Further investigation is on,” said Amrutha Guguloth, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police 1, (North-west).
Police said that a team has been formed to nab the accused.
