Five new Joint Secys appointed

In a minor bureaucratic reshuffle on Thursday, five new Joint Secretaries, three non-IAS officers, have been appointed to different Central government ministries. 

Among the new appointees, senior IAS officer RK Chaturvedi has been appointed Joint Secretary in the Seventh Central Pay Commission’s implementation cell.

Chaturvedi, a 1987 batch IAS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre, has been appointed to the post under the Department of Expenditure. At present, he is working as Resident Commissioner in Madhya Pradesh Bhawan.  Chaturvedi will hold the charge for five years, an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training said.

IPS officer Praveen Vashista has been appointed Joint Secretary in the Home Ministry. The order of Vashista, a 1991 batch IPS officer of Bihar cadre, regarding his appointment as Joint Secretary in the Mines Ministry has been cancelled, it said. Subhash Chandra, a 1988 batch Indian Forest Service officer, will be new Joint Secretary in the Mines Ministry.

Fisheries expert S Ayyappan has been given a three-month extension till March next year as Secretary, Department of Agriculture Research and Education-cum-Director General, Indian Council for Agriculture Research (ICAR).

Meera Swarup, an Indian Audit and Account Service officer, has been appointed Joint Secretary and Financial Adviser in the Department of Expenditure.

Senior IAS officer Deepti Umashankar, Joint Secretary in Cabinet Secretariat, has been moved to a newly created JS-level post in the same office.

Anita Praveen, a 1989-batch IAS officer of Tamil Nadu cadre has been given additional charge of the post of CEO, Price Stabilization Fund Trust (PSFT), while TV Ravichandran, 1990-batch IPS officer of Tamil Nadu cadre has been appointed IG-level officer in the Embassy of India, Berlin.

Leena Nair, a 1982-batch IAS, will look after the Bengaluru Coffee Board as Chairman apart from Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA) Chairperson.
