Five men arrested for molesting actress

Police arrested five persons on the charge of molesting an actress on December 31. The incident took place at Prince Prince Anwar Shah Road when the actress was standing in front of a pan-shop with her fiancé. Those men appeared there and started to tease the woman.

One of the men tried to drag her to their side. The fiancé of the woman tried to rescue the actress but was beaten up by those men.

“Those men tried to drag her to their car. But the woman saved herself. She took her fiancé to the hospital,” said a police officer.

Later, the woman lodged the complaint with Jadavpur police station. “The incident took place at an area under the jurisdiction of Charu Market police station. But the woman lodged the complaint with Jadavpur police station. Her residence is also in Jadavpur,” said a police officer.

Police asked the woman to lodge complaint with Charu Market police station, but she preferred to go to Jadavpur police station, which was near her residence.

“We arrested five persons, Shekh Surajuddin, Shekh Shahiluddin, Ananda Mondal, Gautam Naskar and Biswajit Das from different parts of the city,” the officer added.

However, a police source said that the actress gave them information about those miscreants. “She was really helpful to us. We could not have arrested the accused without her help,” the officer said.

“She came out from a bar with her fiancé. They reached that pan-shop. A car suddenly stopped there and these men came out and started to misbehave with her and started touching her inappropriately,” said the officer.

“She raised an alarm but those men started to beat up her fiancé. We caught the accused on the basis of her inputs and the five of them were arrested on Monday night,” the officer further added.
