Five foot over bridges to come up in Gr Noida

With an aim to bring in relief for the pedestrians, especially students, the Greater Noida Authority has finally decided to construct five foot over bridges (FOBs) at five major points across the city and has earmarked Rs 72 crore for the same.

According to a source, the authority is planning to build five FOBs — one in Jagat Farm Market, two at Pari Chowk, one near Kailash Hospital and one near Galgotia College. The authority has appointed a consultant to create the design for the bridges.

The administration has been under immense pressure from locals and civic representatives to make these foot over-bridge as these points are always crowded. Keeping in mind the residential population of the area, it is estimated that at least 5,000 pedestrians will be using the FOB daily.

Apart from the proposed FOBs, the authority will also use a major chunk of the budget on expediting the construction of the railway over-bridge in Dadri which has been under construction for nearly two years now.

In October 2012, the work on the ambitious ROB had started and reportedly 40 per cent of the work is still imcomplete. The ROB is expected to benefit commuters as well as pedestrians and cyclists.
