Five arrested for molesting girl in running bus

Police have arrested five persons for their alleged involvement in the molestation of a girl 

inside a running bus. The incident occurred on Wednesday evening.

Police said that the victim was returning home from work in a bus that was going to Dankuni 

from Karunamoyee.

The victim is a resident of the Durganagar. The five accused, namely Bakubulla Mondal, Seikh Alauddin, Mehboob Mondal, Apurva Seal and Jasim Mullick molested the girl inside the bus.

The victim told the police that the accused were following her for the last few days.

Some passengers, who were travelling in the bus, protested against the misbehaviour of the accused youth but they abused the passengers.

Having found no option, some of the passengers informed the matter to the Baguiati police station.

Police acted promptly and arrested the accused. 

They have been booked under Section 354 D, 509 and 34 of IPC. Police said that the victim works in a private airlines company.

Police said that all the accused are the residents of Atghara area and they work in a hosiery factory in the same area.

Police came to know in the interrogation that the accused on few occasions saw the victim taking a bus from that area.

The victim also told the police that they had teased her earlier and were hurling abusive languages at her. She also told the police that when the bus reached Chinar Park area they abused her and touched her inappropriately.

When she raised a protest, the accused threatened her with dire consequences. Police are interrogating the accused in this connection. The investigating officers are trying to find out that if there was any past quarrel between the victim and the accused. The accused were remanded to police custody after being produced before a court.
