First ever Yamuna Aarti to be held on Nov 13

In order to promote tourism, the Delhi government will hold its first ever Yamuna Aarti in Delhi on the pattern of the famous Ganga Aarti in Varanasi on November 13.

“We have invited 11 priests from Varanasi to conduct the first every Yamuna Aarti on November 13, Friday at Kudesia Ghat in the city,” said Kapital Mishra, Delhi Minister for Water and Tourism. 

“The aim of the tourism department is to connect maximum people with Yamuna and increase her importance in the life of city,” he added. 

The minister also emphasised on the need for a clean Yamuna and reiterated his commitment to clean her within 36 months from October 2015. “I want to promote water sport, Yamuna Aarti, cleaning and many more initiatives to give a new life to the river which has turned into a drain,” added Mishra.
