First attack after WW-II where maximum RDX was used, says SC

The 1993 serial blasts in Bombay was the first terror attack in which RDX was used on a large scale since the World War II, the Supreme Court said on Thursday while dealing with the havoc caused by 12 coordinated explosions in the country’s financial capital. ‘This was the first ever terrorist attack in the world where RDX (Research Department Explosive) was used on a large scale basis after the World War II,’ the SC said. The blasts took place at several sites including the Bombay Stock Exchange and Air India building that killed 257 people and injured 713. A series of powerful explosions, in which RDX was used for the first time in India, had severely damaged Bombay Stock Exchange building, Air India Building, Century Bazaar at Worli, Katha Bazaar, Plaza theatre in Dadar, five-star hotels Centeur at Juhu, Centeur at Santa Cruz and Sea Rock at Bandra.
