Fire near Sikanderpur Metro station, 50 shops damaged

A massive fire broke out in furniture market near Sikanderpur Metro station, damaging around 50 shops, a fire official said. Property worth crores of rupees <g data-gr-id="27">was</g> destroyed in the incident. Fire fighters had to struggle for hours to douse the flames.  The incident took place around 1:30 am on Sunday.
However, no causality has been reported. More than 15 fire tenders were rushed <g data-gr-id="34">to to</g> control the inferno. 

Police said short-circuit led to the inferno, which was spread after around one dozen cylinders kept in the shops exploded. Mostly furniture shops have suffered damages in the incident.

“The investigation is underway. We are trying to find out the exact thing which led to the incident,” said IA <g data-gr-id="22">Kashyab</g>, fire officer, Gurgaon city fire station.

Fire officials said it was hard to ascertain the amount of damage incurred in the inferno.  “I am not sure of what will happen after <g data-gr-id="31">this,</g> because I have no source of income other than this shop. I am clueless <g data-gr-id="24"><g data-gr-id="30">of of</g></g> what action the government will take to rehabilitate us,” said Rajiv <g data-gr-id="23">Jatan</g>, a shop owner.
According to the police, the government is yet to decide on the compensation amount to be given to the shop owners.
