Fire breaks out at Bidhan Sishu Uddyan in Ultadanga

Tension ran high among the local residents after a fire broke out at the Bidhan Sishu Uddyan in Ultadanga on Tuesday morning.

The local residents spotted smoke coming out from the garden and informed the fire brigade about the incident. Some of the local residents tried to douse the flame which was coming out of transformer situated adjacent to the office of the garden. Staff members of the garden, on Tuesday morning, spotted the fire on the transformer.

The local people tried to extinguish the fire but did not take much risk as there was possibility of getting electrocuted. Though the incident did not have any great impact but a panic spread as the incident had taken place inside a Children’s park. The local residents said that smoke was billowing out of the park which triggered panic among the local residents. Some others also alleged that a poor maintenance might have caused the fire.

After being informed, a fire tender was rushed to the spot and it doused the flame within an hour. CESC personnel also reached the spot and examined the cause of fire. They are examining the exact cause of the fire. As per the preliminary investigation, it is suspected that the fire might have caused following some technical glitch in the electrical transformer. The local residents alleged that the CESC men reached the spot after a long time. A probe has been initiated into the incident.
