Fire at Nepali woollen market leaves 150 shops gutted

A fire broke out in the Nepali woollen market area near Jama Masjid in the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday. According to the fire department officials, the fire broke out at 1 am and 14 fire tenders were rushed to the spot. Meanwhile, no casualties or injuries were reported in this incident.

According to the police, around 150 shops trading mostly in woollen garments were reportedly gutted after a massive fire broke out. Police said that the fire broke out in the Nepali woollen market, near Jama Masjid. A senior fire department official said: “A fire call was received at 1.10 am following which 14 fire tenders rushed to the spot.”

It took about three hours to douse the flames and no one was injured in the fire incident. The fire official said that the exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
