FIR filed in US woman gang-rape case after cops speak to her

The Delhi Police have registered an FIR in the American tourist’s alleged gang-rape case in New Delhi’s five star hotel when she visited India in April this year.

“We have identified the persons involved and zeroed in on the place of incident. Earlier, we received a complain from a US-based NGO but on Saturday we have contacted the victim and she has sent us a complaint through an email.

An FIR has been registered,” said Depender Pathak, Joint Commissioner of Police South-western range.

A US national has alleged that she was gang-raped by a guide and his friends at a five star hotel in Delhi when she visited India in April this year.

After the woman went back to US, she opened up to an NGO in her country and later decided to file a complaint. The NGO has written to the Delhi Police commissioner narrating the ordeal the US nation had gone through.

In an email addressed to the CP Delhi, the woman through the NGO has alleged that during her stay she contacted a guide recommended by the hotel staff.

The guide showed her the city but one day on the pretext of discussing locations in Delhi the guide came to her hotel room with his four friends and forced himself on her along with his friends.

Unable to bear the trauma, the woman left India immediately and claims she slipped into depression. She later approached one of her lawyer friends who took her to an NGO and the NGO wrote an email to the Delhi Police Commissioner on her behalf.

After the Delhi Police spoke to the woman on Saturday, she filed a formal complaint through an email.
