Fight over parking claims toddler’s life

The parking issue between neighbours led to kidnapping and murder of a one-and-a-half year old boy in Vijay Nagar area of Ghaziabad, said police. The police have arrested four teenagers and their landlord, while the main accused is still absconding.

Sonu, a boy in his early twenties, ran a hired auto service in Ghaziabad and used to park his vehicle on the road in front of his land ord’s house.

Their neighbour Narendra Kumar used to object to it, as the road is very narrow. Both families, including the landlord, had many fights regarding the matter, and a scuffle broke out on on Wednesday night as well.

On Thursday, around 10.30 am, Rahul, 20, son of the landlord and his mother Dhanno, 40, lured Raghav, son of Narendra Kumar, with a chocolate.

The duo then allegedly handed over the child to Sonu, who along with his brother Monu and neighbours Ramesh Pal and Satish, took him away a tempo.  According to the complaint, the grandfather of the child saw them and tried to stop them but they fled. According to police, no  demand for ransom was made by the kidnappers.

‘The next day, the body of the child was recovered from a ditch. Parents of the child claimed some youths of the area saw Sonu and his friends throwing the body in the ditch,’ said Rajiv Dwivedi, Inspector of Vijay Nagar police station.

‘We have arrested Rahul his mother Dhanno, Monu, Ramesh Pal, Satish, while raids are being carried out to nab Sonu,’ added Dwivedi.
