Fifth suicide in seven months at Kaushambi

A woman banker in her mid twenties took a fatal jump from 13th floor of an apartment in posh Kaushambi area of Ghaziabad on Thursday morning.
 
This is the fifth suicide within seven months in the locality. The colony is so notorious that a havan was performed by the residents in December to invoke divine intervention.
 
The victim, identified as Fiza [24],  hailed from district Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh and was living as a paying guest in 304, Kanchanjangha Appartment of Kaushambi. Her husband Areeb [26], who works with a private company, lives in Dilshad Garden area of east Delhi. The couple had tied the knot just two months ago but started living separately after a month.

The victim was serving as manager in a private bank. She was alone in her house at the time of the incident.

The police have recovered a suicide note from her purse stating that she was depressed and was responsible herself for the extreme step. ‘I am very depressed and myself responsible for my death. Please don’t make it a police case and consult Dr Tyagi who is treating me,’ said the suicide note. ‘We informed her parents who came to receive her body. We are waiting for the post-mortem report,’ said Shiv Shankar Yadav, SP City, Ghaziabad.

‘This is the fifth case  of suicide from a multi-storey building in Kaushambi. Arrangements should be made to prevent people from using the high rises as suicide spots,’ said Deepak Kumar, a resident of the locality.

In January Shipra [18], a student of Delhi University, jumped from the sixth floor of Vindyachal Tower. In An NRI woman, Sunita Gupta [56], ended her life by jumping from the 14th floor of Malaygiri Apartment on 18 December 2011. Just a week before that, a 20-year-old engineering student Neha Bhardwaj committed suicide by jumping from the 14th floor of Nanda Appartment.

The fifth case of suicide in the area was by a government officer who hanged himself in distress when his wife has gone to live with his sons in USA.
