The Fertilizer Ministry will move a cabinet note for continuation of subsidy to three naptha-based urea plants, including that of MCFL, to maintain indigenous production of urea in the country.
In August this year, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) had approved continuation of production of urea from Madras Fertilizers Ltd (MFL), Manglore Chemicals and Fertilizers Ltd (MCFL) and Southern Petrochemical Industries Corporation (SPIC), using naptha as feedstock for a duration of three months ending on 30 September.
As of now, all these three Naptha-based units are closed.
