Workshop to teach life skills for self-development

A two-day long workshop on child protection and self-motivation was hosted by P C Chandra Group, one of the largest business conglomerates of Eastern India. Conducted by Dr Ashis Kumar Das, Consultant Training and Development at Hotel Executive Tower, the workshop was held with the Prerna 2017 scholarship recipients. Prerna is a scholarship programme to provide financial support to underprivileged Madhyamik achievers.
Like previous years, the objective of organising the workshop was to develop the skills of concentration, self- confidence, cooperation, coordination, teamwork, and other life skills for self-development. Making them aware of the perils of child marriage, developing a safe circle in their adolescence period were also included in the sessions.
"Education is beyond learning, conducting an awareness programme on self-motivation and child protection would prove to be more effective as the students here get the knowledge on their fundamental rights," said Dr Ashis Kumar Das.
In the workshop, he focussed on the point that one on one interaction in simple language with situational references is more understandable than conducting a classroom session.
The P C Chandra Group has always been a socially responsible corporate. The Group has made consistent efforts in forwarding a helping hand to educational and medical institutions; promoting cultural and sporting activities, propagating change to green environment and empowering women.
Besides Prerna, the other CSR programmes of the group to promote excellence in education are the J.L Chandra Merit Scholarship and Gyandhara.
