Where creativity has no boundaries

JP International School, Greater Noida organised the 'STEAM 2K19 Hands On Minds On' on November 30

In a world of multi tasking, creativity and spontaneous thinking provides an upper niche to those capable of tapping into their creative mind. To foster the talent of lateral and diverse thinking for the future generation, JP International School, Greater Noida added another feather in their cap by hosting the 4th edition of 'STEAM 2K19 Hands On Minds On' on November 30, 2019, at the school campus in association with Creative Thinkers Foundation & Odyssey of Mind India.

STEAM, which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics, is a fusion of Science and Art required to enhance overall creativity, to facilitate nurturing the problem solving abilities and also skills like team work, communication etc.

The event in which a total of 11 schools from Delhi NCR participated, challenged the students of various age groups to think out of the box and find solutions to various challenges given to them.

In this competition the students were divided into teams under three divisions – Division 1 (8-12 yrs), Division 2 (12-15 yrs), and Division 3 (15 -18 yrs).

The students displayed best of their creativity and innovation in the tasks given to them. Multi-faceted activities were conducted to provide understanding the composition, properties, and creative use of materials, quick decision making to work within time limits and develop leadership qualities.

There were various experts were also called from the industry and academic world of judge the various competitions and participants.

JP International School also invited various academicians like Dr Abha Rishi, CEO Atal Incubation Centre BIMTECH); Dr M Akbar former Chairman of IIM L incubation center and now Advisor to BIMTECH Nimish Kapoor, Sr Scientist Vigyan Prasar; Dr Lalit, Advisor Amity Group of schools, and Professor Amrita Madan of Ansal University to interact with participants and share their experience to motivate them.

Amit Saxena, Vice President of Sparsh Group and JP International School said, "It's our endeavour to give hand on experience to children and very happy to see the creative bend of mind of this generation. We shall continue to give similar exposure to our students."

Prebhat Sachdeva founder of Creative Thinkers Foundation said "it's our privilege to have an association with JP International School who has forward looking approach and this kind of approach will help students to be more inclined towards STEAM education".

Praising the initiative, Dr Abha Rishi CEO of AIC – BIMTECH, who was amused to see the confidence of school children, shared, "We need to have this kind of approach towards education wherein students can relate with theories taught in the class room in more practical way instead of rote learning".

Upma Singh, Sr HM of JP International thanked every participating school and fellow colleagues. Towards the end of the event, she also took the privilege to announce the results of all divisions winners .

Present at the event, students were not only exhilarated but were inspired that they could develop solutions to challenges presented to them.
