Day three and four of the ongoing ‘Kendra Dance Festival’ were dedicated to Meera – a mystic Hindu saint poetess

The ongoing 'Kendra Dance Festival' presented another set of astounding performances in Kamani Auditorium on May 3. The five-day extravaganza, which started on May 1, showcased excerpts from different episodes of Indian Mythology.

Day three and four of the festival were dedicated to Meera – a mystic Hindu saint-poetess.

The princess poet of Rajasthan devoted her life to Lord Krishna and sang bhajans and poems in praise of her Lord. Her glory lies in the ability to articulate through her poetry and the turbulence that transpired in her life- almost in an autobiographical way.

Meera's entry, complimented with the soothing Rajasthani folk music playing in the background, took the audience's expectations to another level. From the dancers displaying energetic moves in a synchronised fashion to the beautiful presentation of Meera's life, every aspect of the performance was worth the applause. Meera with her immense beautiful expressions and moves left the everyone spellbound.

The august gathering predominantly included people above the age of 40 and senior citizens. There were loud applauses at intervals in the appreciation of theatrical performance put up by Shriram Bhartiya Kala Kendra and team.

After the notable performances including 'Shree Durga', 'Abhimanyu', and 'Meera, which were produced and directed by Shobha Deepak Singh, the audience is eagerly waiting for the last presentation of the festival - 'Odissi on High'.

The traditional Odissi transformed into its contemporary format under the artistic direction of Malaysia's Datuk Ramli Ibrahim and Guru Bichitrananda Swain is scheduled for May 8, 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm. People who are inclined towards dance and drama should positively witness the program.
