Towards the green future

In a bid to reduce carbon footprint and empower marginalised section of women, 'I Am Kolkata', founded by Saket Mohta has embarked 'Abartani', a project on integrated waste management in collaboration with Kolkata Society for Cultural Heritage (KSCH), a social enterprise.

'Abartani' project is the first of kind initiative that engages under privileged women to recycle and produce ready to use products made of solid waste.

The project has been initiated at AA Block, New Town involving hundreds of residents from the community with their due consent. At a formal function Debasish Sen, IAS, Chairman and Managing Director of HIDCO and Niraj Singhal, IFS, Chief Environment Officer, Governmentt of West Bengal inaugurated the project along with Saket Mohta, Founder of I Am Kolkata, CSR initiative of Merlin Group and Sourav Mukherjee, President, Kolkata Society for Cultural Heritage. A few SHG women were also present at the inauguration ceremony
