Tourism Ministry classifies 'Adventure Activities'

The Ministry of Tourism has classified 31 Adventure Tourism Activities – land-based, water-based, and air-based – under the revised Guideline 'Indian Adventure Tourism Guidelines – 2018' (Version 2.0). The detailed criteria for different adventure activities is mentioned in the 'Indian Adventure Tourism Guidelines – 2018' (Version 2.0).

depending on the terrain and availability of infrastructure are done under the supervision of State Governments/Union Territories.

Ministry of Tourism provides a 'Central Financial Assistance' to all the State Governments/UT Administrations under various schemes for development of Infrastructure for Adventure Tourism. In addition, Adventure Tourism is regularly highlighted for promotion as part of the Incredible India Campaign in the print, electronic, online and outdoor media in India and abroad as well as the various travel trade exhibitions overseas.

The accidents occurred through Adventure Tourism are monitored by various State Govts and UTs. Detailed guidelines related to safety & medical emergencies aspects are part of the Guidelines issued in 2018. These Guidelines have been forwarded to State Govts and UTs Administrations for adoption and compliance.

The responsibility of dealing with medical emergencies arising during Adventure Tourism activity is with the concerned State Govts /UTs.
