Taking Jayati Chakraborty's unique music forward
Jayati Chakraborty is a household name in the world of Rabindra Sangeet. A unique rendition style, total control over the notes and a unique style has made her one of the most popular Rabindra Sangeet exponents of the contemporary era.
'Akul Karabi', a CD containing 10 Tagore songs was released at a function at Press Club on September 30 by Bhavna Cassettes and Records. Eminent personalities like Swami Suparnandaji, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture and Professor Sabyasachi Basu Ray Chaudhury , Vice Chancellor, Rabindra Bharati University along with noted Tagore exponents Sraboni Sen and Agnibho Bandyopadhyay marked their presence at the event.
'Kano Jamini Na Jete', 'Bajlo Kahar Bina', 'Tumi Jeo na ekhoni' and 'Hai go byathae kotha' are some of the songs which are in the CD.
Over past decade, there have been a few changes in the way Tagore songs are presented. Now, the singers present the songs in much bolder ways. Jayati has combined both old and new style presentation to create a play list for all-age audience. Joy Nandi, Babul Nandy, Debanjan Bhattacharya and Sandipan Ganguly have helped the singer in the process.
