Supriya Sathe brings alive her childhood memories on canvas

A contemporary landscape painting exhibition by Supriya Sathe Hide and Seek is a reflection of her childhood memories, –playing in the summer afternoons, and spending dreamy days lying on the grass under them form the foundation of her inspiration and paintings.

Supriya's art is an exploration of nature, a documentation of the visions of the beauty of nature encapsulated on canvas. Her landscapes exemplify that divide by seeming natural enough to fit right into the real world despite being purely imaginary, alien yet familiar. Sathe weaves her illusory world, on occasion bringing all her glory to the fore in a flash of light, only to disappear into dark shadows again. One moment she peeks out meekly from behind a tree, the next unabashedly bestows her flowers upon us in sheer delight. Her art explores the playful yet albeit elusive side of nature, the different moods, shades, and colors that exist in the infinite beauty of Nature. She enjoys the use of contrast- the subtle paired with the obvious, the light calling to the dark, the white standing tall midst a burst of color. Her landscapes appear natural enough to fit right into the real world despite being purely imaginary; alien yet strikingly familiar.

Talking about her inspiration, she further said, "Every once in a while my heart longs to take a break from the city and stand in front of a sea or on a mountain, where I can see all the wonderful colors of nature. That is where I draw my inspiration from. Her aim is to capture that particular moment of undefined beauty for eternity in her work.
