SRCPA to stage 'Arsenic and Old Lace'

Creativity needs no barriers.Complementing rich talent and good acting has always been the forte of Shri Ram Centre for Performing Arts as it is all set to stage the acclaimed 'Arsenic and Old Lace' by Joseph Kesserling on August 10-11, 2019 at Shri Ram Centre for Performing Arts (SRCPA), 4 Safdar Hasmi Marg , Mandi House, New Delhi, 7 pm onward.

SRCPA's production of Joseph Kesselring's 'Arsenic and Old Lace' is a farcical black comedy revolving around the D'silva family of Vasai who were the original settlers of this suburbs, but now strangely composed of insane homicidal maniacs. Two old ladies belonging to the D'silva family, Martha and Rosa D'silva are in the queer habit of killing old, lonely men who arrive at their doorstep looking for rental accommodation by tipping a pinch of arsenic into their red wine. A maniacal nephew of the ladies, Jonathan D'silva is a psychopath killer who is running from the police with a plastic surgeon in tow, who operates on his face and changes his appearance with every murder that he commits, to escape the police. Another nephew of the ladies, AlfieD'silva, is a schizophrenic who thinks he is Hitler and helps the ladies to bury old men they kill, when he is told that these old men were Jews gassed at Auschwitz. The only sane member of this family is Bobby D'silva who is left to deal with the impossible eccentricities of every member in his family.

Witness how Bobby deals with so many crazy members in his family without losing his sanity.

Written by renowned playwright Joseph Kesserling and directed by a well-known director Nayana Sagar, it is an apt take on complicated relationships.
