Soumitra, Aparna to relive celluloid story on stage

It was in Satyajit Ray's Samapti in which Amulya (Soumitra Chatterjee) met Mrinmoyee (Aparna Sen) for the first time in 1961. The rest is history. It's time to revisit the past, a past which all movie buffs cherish each and every day in our life. 'Centrestage' is presenting the Cricket Club of Dhakuria's annual social through a trip down memory lane kind of event which will pay tribute to two legendary actors of our times, Soumitra Chatterjee and Aparna Sen. 'Soumitra and Aparna – A retrospective in conversation with Anindya Chatterjee' will be held at Kala Mandir, Kolkata on January 25.
The two celluloid legends of Bengali cinema, Chatterjee and Sen have starred in 23 feature films down the years. They will be engaged in a discussion with Anindya Chatterjee, an acclaimed singer-writer-film director in his own right. The discussion shall range from their early years to their first foray into films. Thereafter, we shall be witness to a gripping session of stories and anecdotes shared from their own experience. The actors will be discussing films, theatre, literature, directors, writers, music directors and many other facets, institutions, and individuals to reflect upon the rich history and tradition that they have been associated with over time. "Getting the two together on stage is like a dream. My objective is to make them talk more. Maybe some glimpses of their personal lives will also be unveiled in the process," Chatterjee told Millennium Post.
To illustrate the discussion, there will be a screening of relevant film clips as well as some songs to relive the golden past. Songs or parts of songs will be sung by Aritra and Dipanwita. The minimal acoustic musical arrangement shall be made by Rocket Mondal in an informal studio environment.
