Remembering the old ones

P C Chandra Group, the leading business house from East India, in association with Eastern India Cinetel Welfare Trust, recently organised the 7th edition of their CSR programme 'PC Chandra Tribute', to offer financial support to eleven yesteryears' film personalities and technicians from the Bengali film industry.

Veteran actor Lily Chakraborty and Theatre Personality, Arindam Ganguly were the Chief Guests for this momentous ceremony along with Abhishek Auddy, Director, Chandras' Chemical Enterprises Pvt Ltd.

First, the Group undertook this initiative in 2013 to support ailing artists/ technicians/ cinematographers/ personalities who have contributed to the film industry in the prime of their lives but are going through difficult times, currently. This year's recipient list includes names like actor Arpita Bekar, actor Sipra Saha, cameraman Mohan Rana, former production assistant Sambhu Nath Saha, cinematographer Pantoo Nag and others.

The Group is providing Rs 5000/– per month for one year to ten artists/technicians/assistant director and Rs 10,000/– per month to Arpita Baker.Speaking at the event, Abhishek Auddy, Director, Chandras' Chemical said, "As a corporate it is our social responsibility to support and take care of the personalities who have contributed towards the film industry which has entertained us. This a token of appreciation and a way of showing our gratitude."
