Rangmanch: Fusion of Kathak and Sarangi

With the arrival of spring, Delhiites will witness a magical amalgamation of Kathak and Sarangi in a program titled 'Rangmanch', on March 14, at Triveni Kala Sangam.

The event is being organised by Chhavi Bansal, under the mentorship of Dr Anuradha Mishra, Professor of Vivekananda Institute of professional studies.

It will be graced by the presence of Ved Prakash Agarwal, Chairman, Prakash Industries Ltd, and Moumala Nayak, an accomplished artist of the Lucknow Gharana of Kathak - who will be the guests of honour. Apart from them, Kuljeet Chahal, General Secretary BJP, Delhi Pradesh; Dr Anuradha Mishra, and Ankur Chawla, Advocate will be special guests at the event.

Opening with an artistic performance by Nabeel Khan with his Sarangi, the evening will witness a pure enchanting aura. Coming from the family of musician, Nabeel, son of the renowned Sarangi player Nasir Khan, started playing the Hindustani classical music instrument at the age of 7. Taking the legacy forward, the young artist has created a mystical aura with his artistic performance across the world.

Following this, Shariq Mustafa, a young talented Tabla player from Farukabad Gharana will enthrall the audience with his soulful performance.

Later, Yamika Mahesh who is a young and talented Kathak performer of Lucknow Gharana will present her production and leave the audience in awe. Initially trained under her gurus Pandit Jai Kishan Maharaj and Pandit Deepak Maharaj at Kathak Kendra, Yamika continued to learn the finer nuances of dance under the Kathak Maestro, Padma Vibhushan and Pandit Birju Maharaj at Kalashram. The extremely talented and critically acclaimed Kathak dancer will be accompanied by Suraj Nirwan, an Indian classical tabla player of Delhi Gharana, and Zohaib Hasan, classical vocalist.
