No 'cliché' outfits this Valentine's Day

If donning the cliche red is not what you wish to do for your special date this year, fashion experts have a couple of ideas to make you stand out

Dressing up has always been a woman's favourite thing to do – irrespective of the occasion. And, obviously, date night on Valentine's Day calls for elaborate preparation. If you are a woman who has a date tomorrow, you would completely understand the urge of looking perfect. As dresses and red colour are the only things that come in mind when we think of getting ready for our special date, experts give you options to ditch cliché outfits and try something new.

Neha Pathak and Shwetta B Sarawgi, co-founder of Glam n Gloss have an alternate solution to bring out the ravishing goddess in you:

A crop top with a pencil skirt: Try mixing a crop top with a pencil skirt and an open waterfall collar jacket. If you are bored of wearing LBD's and gowns on dates, surprise your partner with something new. Don't be doubtful, this will be perfect for a date night.

Ruffles: They are making a huge statement this season. Ruffles are fun and flirty but don't try to go overboard with them. A ruffle sleeved top paired with a fitted shirt pencil skirt will spark up your inner diva.

Mid-length pleated skirt: If you are not that comfortable in wearing pencil skirts or it does not suit your body type, you can anytime go for an alternative. A mid-length pleated skirt oozes charm. Pair a metallic pleated skirt with a slip style camisole top to bring the best of you this Valentine's Day.

Jumpsuits: Like kurtas and jeans are never out-dated, Jumpsuits for sure aren't going anywhere anytime soon as well. For a day out one can effortlessly flaunt a beautiful floral flowy jumpsuit.

Dharna Hassija, a designer and label herself gives you 'trend alerts' for the season of romance:

Victorian collar: This fall, the trending cut is Victorian Collar. Giving a powerful and poised look, Victorian inspired collars are a must-try.

Formal velvet: Velvet made inroad last season and is currently one item that's occupying everyone's wardrobe. We are crushing on outfits with velvet emblishments and cuttings, that gives a royal look.

Razzle dazzle: Glamourous and dazzling outfits are also making a statement nowadays. This winter's eveningwear is all ramped-up glamour. Ramp up your wardrobe with sequins and sparkle.

Ribbons and bows: The ribbons and bows are the new accessory trend this season. You can use them as accessories on button-downs shirts, dresses, tops, shoes, bags and hair. This trend is a guaranteed ticket to sophistication and edginess.

Dr Lucky Yadav, Lyla suggests some options besides common red dresses:

Go bohemian: If girly dressy is not you, make a solid statement in this black bohemian look.

The pretty white: One can never go wrong with white, it's an all season all reason colour.

Do the Denim: An interesting jacket not only helps to layer up but also oomph up any basic outfit. Team it with a white tee and dhoti pants and you are good to go.
