Nitin Gadkari attends IIFF awards 2019

"With a huge potential of employment and exports, India's footwear sector, is one of the 'engines of growth' for Indian economy. The government has a clear focus to reduce the logistic, capital and power costs in the industry to provide necessary impetus to industry," said Nitin Gadkari, Minister of MSME and Transport, Government of India at the Award presentation ceremony of the 5th India International Footwear Fair at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi recently. he also pointed out that there is an urgent need to diversify and set-up footwear clusters beyond the major cities. "We may establish the same at national highways such as Delhi – Mumbai Highway may be ideal locations. Quality of the product is the hallmark for excelling in the competitive world markets" he added.

Organised by the India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO) in association with CIFI, the fair was concluded with a successful note.

Present on the occasion were L C Goyal, Chairman and Managing Director, ITPO; R K Gupta, President, CIFI; Rajesh Agrawal, ED, ITPO; V Noushad, Sr Vice-President, CIFI; R K Dua, Vice-President, CIFI; and Hema Maity, General Manager, ITPO, participants and media persons.

Awards were given away in different categories. In the foreign sector, HUAFON Group China won the Gold trophy.

In Machinery and Equipment catagoy, Aarav Enterprises was presented the Gold Medal, in the Component Category, Elasto India was honoured with the Gold, in the category of Chemicals: OMEGA Marketing was commended with the Gold Trophy, in the Footwear Category, RelaxoFootwears Limited was awarded with the Gold trophy. Complimenting ITPO and CIFI for the fifth edition the IIFF, Nitin Gadkari assured all possible support from the Ministry of MSME, as the industry is primarily MSME intensive. He encouraged CIFI to forward a proposal for setting-up an institution for promotion young footwear entrepreneurs. Speaking on the occasion L C Goyal, CMD, ITPO emphasied the significance of the footwear industry.

In his key note address, R K Gupta, President, CIFI made a request for support from the Ministry of MSME, he said that this is the industry where well an investment of one lakh one can initiate his business. He asked the Minister to set up a new Council for Footwear Exports where CIFI could play a vital role in fulfilling its objectives.
