Knowing your inner self

An exhibition of artist Sangeeta Pathak’s work will be inaugurated on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at 6:30 pm and will go on until December 24

It is said that 'Face is the mirror of mind'. With this concept in mind, An exhibition of prints – lithography, etching, aquatint, dry point, sugar lift etching and others by Sangeeta Pathak from Delhi will be organised at India International Centre (IIC).

The inauguration will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at 6:30 pm, and the show will go on until December 24, 11 am – 7 pm.

Speaking about her work that will be displayed at IIC, Sangeeta says, "My single objective is to bring out in the perceptive field the hidden and imperceptive dilemmas surging in the darkness of our inner self. As I engross myself in my work my imagination keeps on opening up new vistas, new pathways and thus the bounds of imagination keep on widening farther and farther.

What fascinates me the most are the visages, gestures and forms of the people unflinchingly fighting and struggling against all odds of life. Their furrowed faces , their pains, strifes and sufferings force me to paint. I draw immense source of inspiration from such people who never surrender themselves before their hardships. The faces I work on are simple, serene, graceful, thoughtful, pain- ridden but they are not godly, unworldly or heavenly. Instead, they represent the expressions of the natural sensibilities of human life.

As a printmaker-philosopher and a woman artist, I have kept kindling the flame of my creativity and working towards my creative endeavours."
