Khadi India's flagship store makes a record sale

Just two days after Prime Minister's appeal to the masses for buying Khadi products in his monthly radio-talk 'Mann ki Baat' on September 30, all the Khadi showrooms in National Capital Region of Delhi remained jam-packed till late evening on Gandhi Jayanti on October 2 this year.

Altogether 13,657 Khadi-lovers visited Khadi India flagship store at Connaught Place, Delhi, and a total of 2,730 sales bills were issued in a single day. It was noted that the store made a record sale of Rs 1.06 crore.

The sale of Khadi products on the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi was the highest since the country started celebrating Gandhi Jayanti. It is also an increase of about Rs 36 lakh with respect to the sale of Rs 70.01 lakh on October 2, 2017 – a growth of 51 percent.

There is a customary discount sale given by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) on Khadi products across the nation.

According to the Minister of State for MSME, Giriraj Singh, the record sale on Gandhi Jayanti in Delhi this year was an exemplary display of Prime Minister's connectivity with the masses.

"I am overwhelmed with this record sale," he said.

Also, KVIC Chairman Vinay Kumar Saxena, who was personally monitoring the customers' influx in the outlet, expressed his appreciation towards the Prime Minister, saying, "The record sale is the translation of how Prime Minister has communicated his vision of economic transformation through Khadi clearly, creatively, and continually."

"The beginning of Khadi sale is extremely encouraging with a sweeter note of success this time and I hope that this year we will break our own record of highest sale in the days to come," he further added.

Apart from all the enthusiasm in the Capital, a Khadi Fest was inaugurated by the Minister of State for MSME and the KVIC Chairman, in Mumbai.
