KCC to honour women achievers

Kolkata Centre for Creativity (KCC) commemorated International Women's Day by a special event on March 7, featuring three distinguished women achievers in their amphitheatre. Shaswati Ghosh spoke on perceptions of gender discrimination and the direction of the ongoing campaign for gender-equality.

The musical segment of the evening was started by a compact vocal performance of singer Esha Bandyopadhyay, who presented Hameer, Pilu Thumri and Chaiti – marked by a unique tonality and style of rendition.

Sitarist Mita Nag presented rarely heard ragas Lalita Gauri (Alap), Jhaptal Gat in Gauri and a sparkling Sohini to bring the melodious evening to its climax.
