Kant's ideas' collage on transforming India

'The Path Ahead: Transformative ideas for India', a crucial compilation by Amitabh Kant; CEO, Niti Aayog was launched on September 26 at IIC.

The book brings together a rare combination of industry executives, domain thought leaders and government officials and also, highlights the challenges and possible solutions for key sectors that are the cornerstone for India's future growth.

Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley – who was invited as the Chief Guest, released the book and complimented Kant for bringing out a compendium of essays from leading voices, highlighting the opinion on one policy reform that has a significant impact in order to transform the country.

"Obsolete thinking needs to be smashed and this book will go a long way in doing that," he stated.

Addressing the issue of growth of the middle class in India, Jaitley said, "The single most important factor taking place in India is the exponential growth of the middle class. That's the reason why consumption is up and we have a model of a consumption-led growth. This phenomenon will keep the growth process going on and it will keep percolating down."

A panel discussion was also organised at the launch in which esteemed guests Hardeep Puri, Minister of State, Housing and Urban Affairs, Dr Rajiv Kumar, Vice Chairman, NITI Aayog along with Naina Lal Kidwani, CEO and Country Head, HSBC, India and the author Amitabh Kant participated.

In the panel discussion, eminent personalities who have contributed with their services to the nation in different fields pointed out various aspects of development and transformation which India has undergone in all these years. Besides, they also discussed how the country can be transformed into a powerful nation at the global level.

Enumerating diverse development and transformational ideas with an entrepreneurial vision, the book is reflective of this collaborative effort that borrows from the very essence of working in tandem to have meaningful discourses.

Talking about the contribution of different authors in the book and its compilation, Kant elaborated, "Each of the authors is a leader in their own right, and has been a key contributor to India's growth story."

Amitabh promises that not only the book is a great reference for the young minds, but also promises to inspire future leaders to become the makers of new India. The book is published by Rupa Publications.
