ITC takes 'Swachhata Hi Seva' campaign forward

In support of the Prime Minister's clarion call to the nation to eliminate plastic waste as part of the Swachhata Hi Seva, 2019, ITC employees across India actively participated in a series of activities and initiatives to raise awareness on segregation of dry and wet waste, to enable collection of plastic waste for recycling and reuse. They also engaged in collection of plastic waste to be sent for recycling.

Employees across ITC's offices, hotels and factories signed a pledge titled 'For a Better Tomorrow'. The pledge reiterates the commitment of employees to champion the cause of responsible waste management. An oath-taking ceremony was organised at the Company's head office in Kolkata in the presence of ITC Chairman, Sanjiv Puri. Employees in Kolkata formed a human chain around select parts of Russell Street, Park Street and Chowringhee road to both raise awareness on waste segregation at source as well as participate in a clean-up drive for collection of plastic packaging waste and disposal through authorised recyclers. All offices and units across the country have been advised to discontinue the use of single use plastic items.

ITC has been a solid waste recycling positive company for 12 years in a row. It has spearheaded an integrated waste management programme, which aims at providing a 360 degree solutions framework to address the issue of waste management including plastic waste. ITC aims to go beyond compliance to ensure that, over the next decade, 100% of packaging is reusable, recyclable or compostable.
