Gurus to hold a colloquium on famous dance form 'Mohiniyattam'

For classical dance enthusiasts, this weekend is going to be a special treat as gurus from all sampradayas from Kerala as well as from regions outside the state will hold a two-day colloquium in the Capital with 'Mohiniyattam'.
Organised by Kendra Sangeet Natak Akademi and Trikalaa Gurukulam, Delhi, "Kaisiki Vritti: Manifestations in Mohiniyattam" will be inaugurated by renowned art historian, Dr Kapila Vatsyayan at the Meghdoot theatre III , Rabindra Bhawan.
This will be a unique event with nine sessions by gurus of all sampradayas from Kerala as well as regions outside who will be sharing the tradition they imbibed from their gurus, their approach in innovating, and their contribution in further enhancing the dance form. There will be a workshop each day with the gurus of different sampradayas. The colloquium will be presided over by N. Radhakrishnan Nair, Secretary, Kerala Sangeet Natak Academy. The keynote address will be given by Dr Kanakrele (Mumbai).
The participants include Bharati Shivaji (Delhi), Kalamandalam Kshemavaty (Thrissur), Kalamandalam Sugandhi (Kochi), Sreedevi Rajan (Ernakulam), Vimala Menon (Trivandrum), Kala Vijayan (Trippunithura), Nirmala Paniker, (Irinjalakuda) and Dr Deepti Omchery Bhalla (Delhi). The interesting feature of the symposia will be interactive sessions between the established performers of today, who too will share their thoughts and perceptions about the dance form with the gurus.
