Gaurav Gupta unveils his first flagship store in Kolkata

Couturier Gaurav Gupta unveiled his brand's debut couture store in Kolkata along with Aditya Poddar, Chairman, Wellside Group, and Monika Poddar, at the 109 year old restored heritage destination, Galleria 1910.

The store will house designer's progressive bridal couture, women's haute couture along with GG Man for weddings and occasion wear.

Marking 15 years of merging the indigenous Indian construction and embellishing techniques with his idea of the future, Gaurav has continuously delivered and sustained a world that is Indian at its core and boundless in its form. The new store is the experiential retail space in the city unraveling the couturier's dreamscape, with an added focus on haute couture and customisation.

"Our flagship stores aim with a mix of couture, glamour, aspiration, warmth and welcome," the deigner said.

"A lot of my work finds its foundation in surrealism and magic realism. Through my design, its about creating a new culture, a new thinking whether its through our couture forms, techniques

and shape."

Gaurav also feels modern Indian consumer in Kolkata will embrace his surrealism and magic. "I am excited to finally be here extending my brand to this rich milieu of culturally rooted yet futuristic audience," he added.

"The whole idea of heritage destination was to conserve and restore it, where we can showcase the wonderful legacy of Lady Ranu Mukherjee," said Aditya Poddar, Chairman, Wellside Group.

"I am elated that Gaurav presented his latest couture collection 'Undercurrent', which adds a renewed, avant-garde lens to define sculpting as a science of new couture," he added.
