Cake mixing ceremony, where chefs of the hotel mixed ingredients of traditional Christmas cakes was highlight of the evening

An afternoon filled with innovative illustrations inspired by the works of Pablo Picasso, soothing music and delectable cuisines was topped off with a fun cake mixing ceremony at the JW Marriott at Aerocity, which hosted an Art Brunch at its luxurious environs on October 28.

Organised by noted food critic Jyotiee Balani, in association with authorised Mercedes-Benz passenger cars dealer Silver Arrows, the Art Brunch was hosted in front of the palatial hotel's restro-bar 'Playground'. Attended by many members of the media fraternity, the event showcased the works of renowned artist Jai 'Zaiu' Ranjit, who gave a live demonstration of his talent by creating illustrations on a Mercedes-Benz C-Class vehicle.

Using portions of the car covered with lamination film as his canvas, the self-taught artist used his paintbrush effectively to pay homage to Spanish maestro Picasso's Cubism style. Some of the portraits created by the Mumbai-based artist were also on display near the luxurious Mercedes-Benz vehicle. In addition to showcasing his artwork, Ranjit also has given lectures at some prestigious educational institutes across the country.

As Ranjit enthralled many visitors with his artwork, others had a chance to treat their taste buds at the brunch, which boasted of a variety of cuisines and savouries. Many well-known faces in the Capital's social circuit were seen enjoying the lively music, mouth watering food and wine in the course of the afternoon. Among the hot favourite dishes at Playground was the pasta, which had several takers.

The cherry on the cake that was the lively event was the cake mixing ceremony, where chefs at the hotel mixed ingredients of traditional Christmas cakes in full view of the packed house. The mood was festive, and the atmosphere was cheerful, as the hotel also invited guests to join in their yearly cake mixing ceremony. A total of 100 kilograms of colourful ingredients including raisins, cashew nuts, fruits, glazed red cherries, orange peel, dates, nuts and spices were mixed together with variety of liquors.

When asked about the method of preparation, executive pastry chef Sukanta Das said the final mixture will be kept for around eight weeks and left fermented until just before Christmas time. Before Yuletide arrives, this mixture will be used to bake sweet and fluffy fruit cakes as well as other delectable cakes and puddings.

Speaking on this entertaining occasion, Nitesh Gandhi, General Manager, JW Marriott New Delhi Aerocity said, "It gives us immense pleasure to create an extra ordinary experience for our guests to witness and translate into exceptionally pleasant memories.
