Design meet to connect educators with students

A one-of-a-kind design event kicked off in the city on October 28 with top eight design colleges of the country participating. The list includes some of the best design colleges of the country like ISDI Parsons, Pearl Academy, NIFT Kolkata, MIT, Pune, IIAD Delhi, IED Italy, TDV Delhi, and Whistling Woods International.
Design is a vast subject and there is a bouquet of multidisciplinary courses, like product design, fashion textiles, game design, Interior Design, architecture, toy or graphics and other related areas such as fashion management, luxury brand management, mass communication and media. The event touched upon all these areas and that too with inputs from industry experts.
The OPUS Design Think 360 – held at ICCR – was a platform for students to learn about everything related to design careers via seminars, workshops, contests and information desks to facilitate dissemination of valuable information for the students.
Each participating school conducted workshops and seminars on the following subjects: scope of having a B.Des degree, the difference between a diploma and a degree and its impact on employability, life of a designer (fashion, product, industrial, textile, interior, animation, graphics), industrial affiliations, pay scales, opportunities for designers, various courses in design and how they differ and who they cater to.
The workshops were student specific and it will be a great exposure for the students to gauge their design
compatibility. The event's target was to initiate a student into the design space and be a value addition for anyone aspiring to venture into a career in design.
