Curtains come down for Delhi Book Fair

After attracting an unprecedented number of visitors, the 24th edition of 'Delhi Book Fair', 'Stationery and Office Automation Fair' concluded successfully at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.

Deepak Kumar, IAS, Executive Director, India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) presented the awards for excellence in the display to the participants at this nine-day event. Present on the occasion were, Rajesh Mittal, President, Federation of Indian Publishers(FIP), D.K Jain, General Manager, ITPO, Naveen Gupta, Secretary FIP, Krishan Kumar, Senior Manager, ITPO, participants and media persons.

The awards were presented in different categories including Hindi, regional and English. In Hindi language category, 'National Book Trust of India' bagged the gold trophy, 'Samyak Prakashan' the silver and 'Takshila Educational Society' won the bronze trophy, while 'Govind Bhawan Karyalya Unit' (Gita Press) was honoured with commendation certificate.

In the English language category, 'Jaico Publishing House', 'Next Education India' and 'Upkar Prakashan' won the gold, silver and bronze trophies, respectively. 'Navneet Education' received the commendation certificate.

In the regional language category, 'Publication Division', Ministry of Broadcasting, Government of India bagged the gold trophy and 'National Council for Promotion of Urdu language' received the silver trophy while 'Delhi Sanskrit Academy' was commended with the bronze trophy.

Awards were also given away for the excellence in display in the 'Stationery and Office Automation Fair.' 'Upkar Stationery', 'Doms Industries' and 'Hobby Craft' were honoured with the gold, silver and bronze trophies respectively. 'Toon Brand Solutions' and 'Link Pen & Amp Plastics' were presented the commendation certificate for excellence in the display. NCERT was also honored with commendation certificate.

After complimenting the award winners in his keynote address, Deepak Kumar, ED, ITPO, announced the dates for the next edition of the fair i.e. August 28 to September 01, 2019. He indicated that the fair would be organized with an enhanced size and stature in the newly developed halls of International exhibition cum convention center at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi for five days in view of the demand received from the publishing fraternity. Highlighting the salient features of the IECC project, he expressed his happiness over the visitors' response this year despite the raining season and inconvenience due to the ongoing redevelopment plan.

Rajesh Mittal also complimented ITPO for holding the show with a successful note. In his welcome address, D K Jain, GM, ITPO, briefed about the added attractions of the fair. The 'vote of thanks' was proposed by Krishan Kumar, S M, ITPO.
