Celebration of spring regales audiences

Spring is in the air. The azure sky and the sunlight piercing through the greenery welcomes mother earth dressed in her finery. This season has been celebrated in Kalidasa's Ritusamhara to even a modern flick by Srijit Mukherjee, where the heroine hums Boshonto eshe gyache. It's interesting that spring has been the metaphor for the cycle of life in the Tagorean oeuvre. Rabindranath has visualized spring in its splendour in countless poems, a separate section of songs and even a dance-theatre Boshonto.
Aaji e Boshonte, conceptualized by interdisciplinary artist Sujoy Prasad Chatterjee, was a celebration of spring in many hues through artistic forms like songs, spoken words, lyrics, conversations and dance. The production opened on March 19 at Rabindra Sadan at 6:45 pm, featuring elocutionist Madhumita Basu, actor Bidipta Chakraborty and Chandreyee Ghosh on readings along with Sujoy, popular Rabindrasangeet vocalist Srabani Sen and Debamalya Chattopadhyay, choreographer-dancer Sudarshan Chakraborty and members of Sapphire, Arnab Bandyopadhyay, Sandip Mallick, actor Koneenica Bandopadhyay, Soumili Biswas and the legendary Purnima Ghosh. The programme also ushered in the birthday of media personality Chaitali Dasgupta, presenting the living legend to her countless fans and a vibrant audience. The show has been presented by Module Developers, Inner Circle and Design Studio.
