Celebrating grandeur of tribal and urban delicacies of Bengal

Gariahat Hindustan Club Durga Puja Committee hosted a grand cooking competition 'Buno Oal v/s Shohure Tetul', celebrating the grandeur of the tribal and urban delicacies of Bengal. The event was hosted by Chandrima Bhattacharya, Minister of State for Law and Health and was graced by Mala Ray, Member of Lok Sabha; Subrata Mukherjee, Minister for Panchayats and Rural Development and Water Investigation & Development; Sovandeb Chatterjee, Minister for Power & Non-Conventional Energy; Debashis Kumar, Mayor -in- Council; Sandhyarani Tudu, MLA, Maanbazar. The eminent panel of judges included Pallavi Chatterjee, Chaitali Dasgupta, Chandabani Mukherjee.

The array of delicacies were prepared by talented women who took part in celebrating the goodness of cooking. There was a spread of dishes such as Kakra o Chingri Paturi, Snow white Rabri, Chicken roast with rice, Chingri Chaap, Chicken Salad, Paneer Jhaalfrezi, Kaju mochar doi Kebab, Fish pie, Mutton shami Kebab, Two tiered Mocha Fudge Chocolate Cake, Hariya, Baansh pora mangsho, to name a few.

Arundhuti Roy Chowdhury (Buno Oal), Tumpa Bose (Shohure Tetul), Dipanwita Laha (Buno Oal) were declared the winner, first runner-up and second runner-up of the competition respectively.

"It is a celebration of cooking of various forms like tribal and urban food. Bengalis love food and cooking, and on the occasion of 'Khuti Pujo', the essence of Durga Puja marks its arrival. A variety of dishes can be prepared during this festive season", said Chandrima Bhattacharya, Minister of State for Law and Health.
