Artworks by young artists get recognition

The art exhibition showcasing 120 works by 55 Diploma students will go on until September 19, 2019, at All India Fine Arts and Crafts Society, New Delhi

With an aim to give students a wide platform and exposure, National Institute of Fine Arts (NIFA) has organised their 14th Annual Art Exhibition 'Urge' to showcase approximately 120 works by the 55 Diploma students. The aim of the exhibition is to give students a wide platform and exposure.

The word 'Urge' basically stands for desire. Urge of expression compels an artist to create anything and everything which is a tangible manifestation of his insides – his thoughts, his feelings.

It's making himself seen, known, and open to critique and condemnation as much as to appreciation and recognition.

The exhibition was inaugurated on September 13 in the presence of Padmashree Biman B Das (Eminent Sculptor/ Painter), Niladri Paul (Eminent Contemporary Artist), Renu Khera (Curator & MD, NIFA), artists and other eminent guests.

The artworks displayed in the exhibition are inspired by students' thoughts, feelings and life. They serve their ideas on the front by placing them on the canvas. This time, the artifacts that have been given place are inspired from various things ranging from our ancient and spiritual stories to culture, life and nature.

Speaking about the art show, Renu Khera, curator of the exhibition and director of NIFA, said that this exhibition will recognise many new talents. The inspiration and encouragement will inspire them to do better. Biman B Das and Niladri Paul also praised the artifacts.

In the exhibition, artworks of about 56 students from all six centers of NIFA have been accommodated. One of the unique features of this exhibition is that it has participation by talented artists between the age of 10 to 70 years.

NIFA is a unit of the Sanyam Educational and Social Welfare Society established in 2005 by Renu Khera. The goal of this society is to teach art to people of all ages.

The art show will go on until September 19, 2019, 11 am – 7 pm at All India Fine Arts and Crafts Society, Rafi Marg, New Delhi.
