'Aatmadarshanam... a journey within...' – a novel production by The Shrinkhala was launched on October 30, at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.

The Shrinkhala, a dance company based in New Delhi has various divisions traversing choreography, performance, training, curation and have executed more than 500 projects nationally and internationally under the leadership of their Artistic Director – Tanushri Roy.

Manish Sisodia, Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi was invited as the Chief Guest at the event, where he inaugurated the evening by lighting the lamp. In his address, Sisodia congratulated 'The Shrinkhala' for their efforts in putting up such a unique performance and said that he is impressed by the strength of the production – particularly the concept and execution of the dance group.

The production traced the virtues and characteristics of three yug purushas– Lord Shiva, Gautam Buddha and Mahatma Gandhi across three eras.

During the colourful performance, Lord Shiva was depicted through his different facets and rasas in the Indian dance forms of Kathak and Mayurbhanj Chhau. The dance acts projected him as a yogi, as an ascetic, as a householder, as the one who fights injustice, as one who is an epitome of balance and equanimity. Whereas, Gautam Buddha's philosophy was depicted in contemporary styles through his idea of the four noble truths and the eight fold path. And lastly, the third leader – Mahatma Gandhi's journey was exhibited through the experiences that built him, his contributions in the Indian freedom struggle and the values and ideals that he stood for.

Finally, the production urged the humans of today to introspect and rethink the meaning of their lives and in turn imbibe the virtues possessed by these three yug purushas.

The lights, costumes, sound were professionally designed and along with thought provoking voice overs, added aesthetic vibrance to the production. The event ended with a standing ovation by a packed auditorium and magnificent reviews by critics.

The production by Shrinkhala has been selected by the Government of India to perform at different venues worldwide.
