Fast food seller rapes minor, held

Police arrested a person, on the charge of sexually assaulting a girl, who resided at Bagdogra colony of Siliguri on Sunday.

The accused, allegedly raped the girl in the absence of her parents in the house on Saturday.

Later, the victim girl informed the whole incident to her mother, who in turn lodged the complaint with the local police station.

The police detained the accused on Saturday night, but arrested him on Sunday morning. He will be produced before the court on Monday.

Police said, Tufan Dutta, who runs a fast food shop at Bagdogra Colony rented a room to the family of the victim girl.

On Saturday, the parents of the girl moved out from the house keeping their daughter alone there. Tufan entered the house with a packet of chowmein and fed it to the little girl.

They girl soon fell asleep on the bed. “Tufan allegedly raped the girl after feeding her Chowmein mixed with sleeping pills. We interrogated him through the night.

The girl was admitted in hospital. We are waiting for her medical reports to come in,” said an investigating officer.

However, the parents and other family members of the girl ransacked Tufan’s house and his shop was set on fire.

The neighbours also staged demonstration in front of the police station. “We’ll definitely take necessary steps, but let the medical report reach us.

We have to frame the charges against him. So the medical reports are very necessary here.

We have also informed the matter to state child welfare department,’ said the police officer.
