Faridabad residents up in arms over dirty drinking water

A number of residents in Faridabad took to streets against the civic authorities for not addressing their concerns over receiving sewer water in their drinking water supply. Residents of Kumharwada, an area located in the middle of the city, have been complaining of receiving sewer water for a long <g data-gr-id="17">time</g> but the authorities have turned a deaf ear to their pleas.

“We have been receiving dirty water from water pipelines every day, either in the morning or in the evening. We can neither cook meals with that water nor can we drink it. We are using sealed water nowadays which is proving very costly for us. Despite making several complaints, the concerned authorities have failed to address the problem,” said Premvati, a local resident. The residents claim that the Municipal Corporation, which ensures water supply in the city, collects a handsome amount for supplying water but are not doing their jobs.

Some residents even held protests in their colony urging the authorities to address the issue and some even marched to the headquarters of Municipal Corporation at BK Chowk and gheraoed the senior officials. The officials have admitted that they have received the complaints from the residents.
