Family, locals block street over 28-yr-old’s death

A few days after a 28-year-old man was found dead in a river in Ghaziabad, family members and locals took to the streets in North Delhi’s Burari area on Monday afternoon. The road in front of Block number 2 was blocked causing traffic snarls, a traffic official said.

According to a senior police official, the victim had been identified as Pawan who went missing on October 28. His body was later recovered from the Hindon river in Ghaziabad by the local police on Monday morning.

Police said that the incident further infuriated the family members and locals resorted to violent protests and pelted stones at DTC buses. A few people were also injured in the incident. Meanwhile, police resorted to mild lathicharge to bring the situation under control.
