Family assaulted for getting thieves caught

Three people of a family were brutally attacked by unidentified people in broad daylight in Brahmpuri area of North-East Delhi’s New Usmanpur on Monday. The injured have been identified as Sunil Rathi (44), his son Rishab (16), and his father Gopichand Rathi (75). The incident took place at 11 am on Monday when nobody in the family was present in the house. The culprits barged in and attacked Rathi’s family members.

According to Surendra Rathi, Sunil’s younger brother, “On Sunday night, around 1.30 am Sunil saw five people trying to break into a house in the Monibaba Mandir in Brahmpuri area. Sunil saw them and raised an alarm. He made a PCR call. Three of them fled from the spot while two were apprehended by the police. They were taken to the New Usmanpur police station.”

Tragedy fell on the family when a group of eight people barged into Sunil’s residence and attacked him and his family. While Sunil received minor injuries, his son Rishab, received serious head injuries.

At the same time, Sunil’s father, Gopichand, who was sitting in the Monibaba temple premises, was also attacked. He too received injuries and was rushed to a hospital for treatment. Sunil Rathi owns a <g data-gr-id="23">flour</g> shop in the neighbourhood. His son was attacked by an iron rod, as told by family members.
