Failed robbery attempt at PNB in Preet Vihar

The unidentified assailants failed to take money from the cash vault but managed to flee with LEDs from the bank’s branch.

The incident took place in Preet Vihar’s Madhuban Chowk area. The bank was closed on Wednesday due to a strike. The incident came to light on Thursday morning when the bank’s security guard reported for work on early hours.

The security guard found the shutter down, but the lock broken. He immediately reported the matter to bank authorities and police.

A case under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at Preet Vihar police station. “The investigations have started. The forensic team has taken the fingerprints from the crime scene”, a police officer said.

Sarika Sen Gupta, senior manager of the branch said the burglars broke the lock of an iron almirah where some documents were kept. “As of now, the lockers are safe but they (burglars) tried to break the door of the strong room”, he added.

The security guard found that a window grill was broken and a few things were misplaced. The wire of the CCTV camera installed inside the bank was also detached.

“There were no night vision facility in the bank’s CCTV, therefore, it was difficult to establish the identity of the assailant’, said a police officer.
