Explosives seized from Murshidabad, two arrested

Around 100 kg of explosives was recovered from Raghunathganj in Murshidabad early morning on Tuesday. Two persons were arrested on charges of carrying the consignment.

A special drive conducted by the district police led to the arrest of the two persons – Zirad Sheikh and Ishaq Sheikh. Police said that the duo was staying in a house at Fultola area in Raghunathganj. The police raided the house and found the explosives in two containers.

Police preliminary suggests that the duo has connection with terror outfits and they were bringing in the explosives to stock somewhere in a huge quantity. On Monday, the police arrested two more persons and had seized 97 kg of explosives from a shop in an adjacent area. One of the arrested youth is a resident of Suti. 

Police suspect that the seized materials were sulphur and ammonium. The materials will be sent for further test to confirm that for what other purposes it can serve. Police suspect that the materials were brought to make improvised explosive devices and the duo could be members of sleeper cells of some terror outfit. Thus the police initiated interrogation if they have any connection with JMB.
