Experiment with jackets at weddings

I love nautical stripes. They have been my wardrobe special. But now prints are also taking up space in my wardrobe. Can I team them together? Please advise.

You need to team them carefully. With stripes, a bit of retro-inspired prints will go well. Geometric prints can also be a good option. Stripes look best when teamed with solids. If your nautical stripe is in white and blue, then floral print in white and red can be a good option.

I have had a polka dot fascination since my childhood. How can I add them to my accessories?

Too much of nothing is good. Too much of polka can turn you into a fashion fiasco. A polka-dotted scarf can be a constant in your bag. You can add polka in the form of totes, ruffled or quilted handbags, clutch or a may be platform pumps. These days bangles, belts, headbands are also available with the spot on.

I am going for a meeting next month in Goa. The dress code will naturally be casual. I want to enjoy the casual dressing with my professional edge. Please advice.

Bright and happy shades are the first things that come to my mind. And because the resort fashion week just ended, this is the best time to wrap in the new fashion. But somehow I feel a wrap dress should be your pick. Nautical stripes with nice linen ankle-length trousers can also be an option. And why not try a cover-all kaftan? After all, it’s always best to blend work with pleasure!!

I have a family wedding coming up and want to pick up something that will work both on the Indian as well as the Westernwear front. Please help.

I feel jackets can be a nice option for you to experiment with. These days, designers are making it in various fabrics like silks, velvets etc. though the velvet adds the right dash of glamour. Printed or embroidered, but baroque motifs should be your choice. Choose a colour that’s regal. You can easily team it with your sari, lehenga, a nice fitted churidar. Also in the Westernwear front, this can complement your silk blouse.

A friend has organised a party, the theme for which is neon. However, it’s right after my office hours. Please tell me how to manage both the party and office with neon.

As we all know, neon is the biggest trend this year. Why not team a neon top with a cream or beige trouser, or may be some light denim? Or if you want to play it differently, you can always use neon in accessories, like cuffs, bags, scarves, shoes. In that case, the outfit should be subdued.
